If you're looking for an AllRoad bike and you're happy to sacrifice a little comfort for a slightly lighter, faster ride, then the new 2016 Stooshie could be what you've been waiting for.
From the same DNA as our mega popular Stoater models, the Stooshie uses an oversize, lightweight blend of tubes specially selected by us from Italian tube giants Columbus and Dedacciai. Pair this up with a stiff and lightweight carbon fork from TRP and you have the ideal bike for long, fast miles through terrain that only classic days in the saddle can throw at you!
As you'd expect from Shand, the Stooshie is based on a very versatile and practical frame design. The frame and carbon fork both have mudguard eyelets and rear rack mounts are standard, as are three sets of bottle bosses. If you're building a bike yourself using a frame or frame/fork package, the modular dropouts mean that the Stooshie will support the following transmission and brake configurations.
The Stoater Rohloff comes as standard with a Gates Carbon Belt Drive system instead of a traditional chain, belt tension is adjusted using our innovative PF30 EBB (eccentric bottom bracket) solution. Rear dropouts can be changed to enable use of single speed or traditional derailleur drivetrains making this a truly versatile bicycle for every adventure.
New for all Shand 2016 models is the option for integrated brake and shifter levers. Previously, the only way to change gears on the Rohloff internal gear hub was with a handlebar mounted twist shifter. This is a very reliable and easy to use system but for those riders coming from STI style shifters, this can feel a little unusual. The new integrated shifter uses a SRAM shifter to provide a familiar and natural gear change that's very intuitive to use. The SRAM shifter is paired with teh SRAM Rival hydraulic disk brake system (the older cable brakes are pictured).

Unless otherwise agreed, all bikes will be setup with 10mm of spacers under the stem. Stem lengths and seatpost types (layback or inline) are frame size specific to enable maximum amount of adjustability. We can provide a dimensioned drawing of final setup on request.
If you have questions about the frame size and position that suits you best, we can help. Just get in touch to discuss the fitting process and we’ll talk you through our online fitting form. If you already have fit information from a 3rd party, we can make use this too.
As all Shand bikes are built to order, we aim to ensure our bikes fit all customers perfectly – regardless of gender. Read more about how we ensure a perfect bike fit for women.
For specific fit requirements beyond our production frame sizes, we provide a custom fit service to make a bike that fits you perfectly.
All our bikes are painted to order from a standard range of 30 colours. Metallic and custom colours are also available for an additional charge – as are custom colours and one-off graphics if you’re looking for something more individual.
For the Stooshie (in addition to colour matched stem), we can provide contrasting graphics and fork detail for an additional cost of £100. Just mention at time of order and as some colour combinations work better than others and we can assist with colour choice and make recommendations.
For more information on our paint process, visit the Paint and graphics page.
We are specialists in the design and build of Rohloff compatible frames. Rohloff are renowned the world over as the leading manufacturer of internal geared hubs. Being fully sealed from the dirt, the Rohloff Speedhub is an exceptionally reliable unit making it ideal for touring, daily commuting or everyday riding where reliability and the promise of extremely low maintenance are key.
The Rohloff Speedhub does away with the need for a front derailleur and has fourteen gears that cover the range of a typical derailleur gear setup. Designed around the Rohloff Speedhub the Stooshie Rohloff has an Eccentric PF30 Bottom Bracket to provide an elegant solution for easy belt/chain tensioning.
We are an approved supplier of Gates Carbon Belt Drive systems, so can provide a belt drive with your Rohloff build for improved maintenance and a clean, lubricant-free drivetrain. Our frames have been stiffness tested for torsional rigidity ensuring accurate alignment of the belt under heavy pedaling or touring loads.
To maintain the integrity and strength of the belt system, the belt itself cannot be broken in order to fit into the bike. To manage this, all of our beltdrive frames come with a ‘splitter’ integrated within the rear dropout to allow belt drive fitting and removal. This future proofs your frame if you think you may want to fit a beltdrive later.
The Gebla Rohbox is a shiftbox that replaces the standard Rohloff transfer box, providing compatibility with SRAM integrated shift/brake dropbar levers, or MTB trigger shifters. The system requires a small modification to the shifters (which we do) but once installed, one shifter changes gears down with the other changing back up again.
This conversion works extremely well and is a good solution if you don’t like a twist shifter or prefer current methods of derailleur shifting.
Some riders prefer the simplicity of a twist shifter for the Rohloff system. The Rohloff factory shifter is designed for use with flat bars and will not fit round the bends of a drop bar making it unsuitable for use with traditional roadbike handlebars. Instead, we fit the US made Co-Motion Rohloff shifter that works across a wide range of drop bars with a 31.8mm stem clamp. The simple two-piece design fits easily onto the top of the bars and incorporates a double O-ring seal to keep things working smoothly in wet and dusty conditions. The bigger diameter grip section also makes the shifting action lighter than the standard shifter.
The Co-Motion Rohloff drop bar shifter is also available to purchase separately in our online shop.
