Scottish specialist bike designer and builder Shand is encouraging people to get out on their bikes as the nights draw in with a limited-edition winter deal on its commuter crossover bike, the Leveret.

With its eye-catching reflective features, fitted mudguards, and smooth hub gear and carbon belt combination, the Leveret is a ready-to-ride steel-framed bike tailored to commuter cyclists, perfect for winter conditions, that also seek adventure during their downtime.

To encourage people to get on two wheels, Shand is offering customers who purchase a Leveret, a free CatEye Sync light set worth £130. This includes a wearable light for a helmet or rucksack.

Shand ambassador and record-breaking endurance athlete, Jenny Tough, used to be a reluctant winter rider despite completing epic solo rides, the most recent of which was the Atlas Mountain Race 2020, where she finished as the first female over the line.

Jenny, who has since learnt to love winter riding, said: “I’ve always been motivated by the adventure of cycling – using my Shand bike to see beautiful places – so the absence of a view outside of the circle produced by my torch deflated my motivation.

“But nighttime can beautiful. There’s something really magical and refreshing about riding in the dark when things go quiet. It’s a really good headspace, with no distractions outside of you and your bike. I used to fear dark riding, but now I actually enjoy it and buying a really good light helped a lot.”

The free winter light pack offer will be available on all Leverets purchased until 23:59 on the 30 November and are available now from Shand’s online shop. The bikes are built and ready for despatch and will be with customers within seven days.
